UWEC American Marketing Association Co-Sponsors Regional Conference
By Nick Wellenstein, Management Major, AMA VP of Communications for UW-EC
The University of Wisconsin Eau Claire chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) co-hosted an AMA regional conference with UW-Milwaukee on November 6th in Whitewater, Wisconsin. The theme of the conference was “Marketing through Changing Tides,” focusing on three main tracks: Internet Social Media, Sustainability and Diversity, and Buzz and Viral Public Relations. More than 500 students from 16 regional universities attended the conference and were provided with the opportunity to choose which speakers and sessions they were most interested in attending. Speakers included business professionals from well-known companies such as Target, YouTube, Kohler Company, Lands’ End, Johnson Controls Inc, and GMR Marketing.
Student participants were also given the opportunity to take part in a Career Corner and Lunch Workshops. Career Corner is something that UW-Eau Claire students spent a lot of time organizing and recruiting businesses to donate time and/or money to participate in. This event also featured over 20 businesses looking to network and recruit talented business students from around the Midwest who were present at the conference. The lunch workshops provided participants the opportunity to hear firsthand advice from other AMA chapters on many topics, and provided insight on how to prepare for professional careers.
Twenty UW-Eau Claire AMA members attended this year’s event to represent the UW-EC Chapter at the conference.
