Students Show Off Their Selling Skills at the Sales Competition
Students showed off their selling skills at the 5th Annual UW-Eau Claire Collegiate Sales Competition on Friday, December 1, 2006.
Congratulations to our finalists! Business students Bowie Burger, Ann Lundberg, Katrina Rademacher, and Lindsay Renneau were named finalists in the UW-Eau Claire Sales Competition. All four students will represent UW-Eau Claire at the National Collegiate Sales Competition, which will be held March 16-17, 2007 at Kennesaw State University (near Atlanta, Georgia).
For the next three months, the students will work with marketing faculty and alumni to hone their sales presentations. Faculty will select two students to actually compete in the event; the other two students will serve as student coaches. LaNette Flunker will accompany the team to the national competition.
For the UW-Eau Claire Sales Competition, students developed a 20-minute sales presentation for a predetermined product or service which they tried to "sell" to a faculty "buyer". The sales presentations were evaluated by a team of judges consisting of sales professionals and faculty members.
This year's student competitors included:
Last year, the UW-Eau Claire team placed sixth nationally, beating teams from such schools as Babson College, Baylor University, Harvard, Purdue, Texas State University and University of Houston. UW-Eau Claire student Lindsey Zastrow took first place in the service category and placed 4th in the competition overall. She was less than one point away from competing in the championship round.
