
Students from LaNette Flunker’s Advanced Sales Class took part in a sales competition for a Hobbs Ice Arena fundraising project, in conjunction with the UW-Eau Claire Foundation, to raise operational funds for children’s hockey and skating teams. Sales teams from the class sold thirteen boards of advertising space on the rink, in addition to six “blue line” sponsorships, to the amount of $41,950. This year’s total surpassed the 2008 total of $40,000.
“The students were motivated, and did a great job” said Flunker. “Many companies were excited to contribute funds for operations to support the kids’ hockey and ice skating teams.”
The students in the sales competition were ranked according to a point system that factored in the number of calls that were made, the number of meetings that were set, as well as dollars sold.
The top sales persons, teams and other award winners will be announced at a banquet on Tuesday, May 12.
