Applications are being accepted for the 2008 Leadership Institute. The Leadership Institute helps new freshmen entering UW-Eau Claire develop life skills while gaining insight into the UW-Eau Claire college experience.
The program emphasizes the philosophy that ones ability to grow as a leader is based on the ability to grow as a person. This growth is accomplished through highly interactive sessions that create fast-moving and motivating developmental experiences. Students work through these sessions with the help of a staff of university students.
Most sessions occur during summer orientation in which students can coordinate a Leadership Institute session with their orientation time.
Available Session Dates for 2008:
Session 1 June 11-13
Session 2 June 15-17
Session 3 June 18-20
Session 4 June 22-24
Session 5 June 25-27
Session 6 June 29-July 1
Students who attend the Leadership Institute will receive a college credit that will appear with their fall credit load. Cost for the program is $375 which includes housing, meals, textbook, workbook and T-shirt. Students will be exposed to team building exercises, a "Chose Confidence" curriculum and an "Adventure Education" activity on the final day of the program. Often, students create long lasting friendships with fellow attendees that last long after college.
