Student Position Available: Graphic Designer
Looking for a great graphic design experience? At the College of Business, you will have a wide range of projects, including brochures, posters, invitations, web page layout, displays, and more. This is a great opportunity to gain some real world experience while strengthening your portfolio. This position can be applied as an internship. Reports to
- College of Business Assistant Dean-External Affairs
Hours
- Academic Year: 15-20 hours per week. Exact days to be determined
- Summer: 40 hours per week. Monday through Friday
Duties
- Designs and creates layouts for College of Business brochures, invitations, fliers and other promotional materials
- Works with the Assistant Dean-External Affairs to develop the theme and general concepts for printed materials and websites
- Works with UW-Eau Claire Entrepreneur Program to design and develop annual reports
- Works with commercial printers to develop price quotes and printing schedules
- Completes all pre-production tasks for submission to commercial printers. Works with the printers to develop a schedule to ensure that work is done on time
- Develops graphics for the College of Business web site
- Works with the College of Business web programmers to implement web designs
Qualifications
- Must be creative and have a good sense of design
- Must be a self-starter as position has little or no supervision
- Must have excellent communication skills: Must be a good listener who can explain complex issues well. Must be able to develop a good working relationship with the other graphic artists on campus as well as the printers and other venders he or she comes in contact with.
- Must be able to work on a Macintosh platform
- Must be proficient with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Quark Xpress 6
- Must know how to scan and electronically manipulate images
- Knowledge of web design
- Basic knowledge of Dreamweaver and Flash a plus
