Dr. Jay Sounderpandian, UW-Parkside and UW MBA Consortium professor, died unexpectedly, April 9, 2007

Jayavel Sounderpandian, 56, of Racine, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare on Monday, April 9, 2007, at 3:30 a.m. Jay was the beloved husband of Latha Sounderpandian and loving father of Jayasri (31), Meena (22), and Shanta (20).

Dr. Sounderpandian was a professor of quantitative methods in the School of Business and Technology at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside since 1983. For the academic year 2005-2006 he was also interim Dean of the School of Business and Technology.

He was also instrumental in the development of the University of Wisconsin MBA Consortium, an association of four AACSB accredited business schools that includes UW-Parkside, UW-Eau Claire, UW-La Crosse, and UW-Oshkosh. He was the lead instructor for the consortium's online module, Strategies for Managing Ongoing Operations. He also taught online courses in operations management, statistics and decision analysis for the consortium.

Dr. Sounderpandian was the author of two books including a widely used statistics text book, and of numerous publications in national and international journals. He was a recipient of the university's Distinguished Research Award and a lover of mathematical and verbal puzzles. He will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends and colleagues.
