New Scholarship Program Benefits MIS Students

UW-Eau Claire faculty member, Matt Germonprez, and his parents, Ray and Judy Germonprez, have established a scholarship program for MIS students. Their scholarships recognize the family’s passion for lifelong learning and commitment to giving back to help others accomplish their educational goals.

“We have always believed in the power of education,” said Judy Gernmonprez. “Our scholarships will help those who have the desire and ability but not the means or encouragement to realize their education.”

Two, $2,250 scholarships will be available to UW-Eau Claire MIS students from this fund for the 2006-07 academic year. The first scholarship recognizes an outstanding woman majoring in Management Information Systems. The second scholarship is awarded to a MIS student who shows great potential for a career in MIS but needs additional encouragement and motivation to continue working toward completion of the degree. Both scholarships will be administered by the MIS department scholarship committee, according to Dr. Anthony Keys, chair of the committee.

“Matt and his family are amazing!”, said Thomas Hilton, chair of the UW-Eau Claire management information systems department. “The Germonprez scholarships send a clear message that MIS students do embrace the UW-Eau Claire motto of Excellence.”

The Germonprez family gift is recognized as a contribution to Fulfilling the Promise of Excellence, the UW-Eau Claire Foundation's ongoing comprehensive campaign to benefit UW-Eau Claire's people and programs.
