University of Wisconsin Eau Claire students will explore internship opportunities and acquire employment tips at Internship Mania 2006. The free event will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 8, 2006, in the Council Fire Room of Davies Center.
Employers from the Chippewa Valley, as well as other Wisconsin cities, Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois, will staff booths to showcase their companies and internship opportunities.
"Internship Mania allows students from all majors to do some face-to-face networking with a variety of employers," said Eileen Oswald, a career counselor and event coordinator.
Oswald said interning is a critical experience for students of all majors. "In the past, internships were looked at as optional," she said. "But now they have almost become required."
The event, which drew about 1,500 students and 90 employers last year, also includes resume and cover letter critiques, mock interviews, a "Dress for Success" fashion show and an employer breakfast social.
Space is available for employers who still want to purchase booth space. Registration, which costs $150, is available online. Employers interested in attending but who do not have the necessary funding may apply for an employer scholarship.
