Lee Yang, a marketing student from Menomonie , WI , has been named the UW-Eau Claire 2004-2005 Outstanding Multicultural Student. Lee will be recognized by the UW-Eau Claire Alumni Association at the Outstanding Student Luncheon which will be held May 11, 2005 in the UW-Eau Claire Davies Center .
Lee graduated from UW-Eau Claire in December 2004. Her academic adviser was Dr. Chuck Tomkovick.
In addition to her marketing major, Lee completed a certificate in Advanced Business Communications. Her face is very familiar to College of Business faculty, staff and students as her photo appears on the cover of the Advanced Business Communications flier and website of the Department of Business Communication.
Active in the American Marketing Association, Lee was the organization's executive vice president, vice-president of membership, events director, and alumni relations director. She also was a member of the Student Hmong Association and held the position of public relations director.
Fluent in three languages, Lee participated in two study abroad programs: one in Toulon , France , where she also participated in an internship with the Toulon Office of Tourism, and a second program in Chiang Mai , Thailand . About these experiences, Lee writes, "These opportunities got me out of my comfort zone and afterwards showed me that I could do anything if I took the opportunity to commit to it."
In 2003-04, Lee was the recipient of the Xcel Energy College of Business Diversity scholarship.
Lee currently lives in Allentown , Pennsylvania where she is a sales representative for Hormel Foods Consumer Products.
