Robert Sutton, professor of marketing and chair of the Department of Management and Marketing, will be the new College of Business associate dean. He begins his new position August 1 when he replaces associate dean Dale A. Johnson who retires in July.
As associate dean, Sutton will be the chief academic officer of the College of Business . He will coordinate the college's accreditation and assessment processes and work closely with the college's strategic planning and curriculum committees, Center for Leadership, Entrepreneur Program and International Business Programs. Sutton also will continue to teach marketing research courses for the Department of Management and Marketing.
Sutton came to UW-Eau Claire in 1980 as an assistant professor of marketing. Over the years he has taught courses in marketing principles, marketing research and quantitative analysis. From 1991 to 1994, he was the academic coordinator for the Department of Business Administration. In 1994, Sutton was named chair of the Department of Management and Marketing. As chair, Sutton was responsible for the department's 30 full-time and part-time faculty and academic staff members and more than 1,000 students majoring in the department's academic programs.
Sutton holds a PhD from the University of Iowa where his major areas of study were marketing and statistics. He has an undergraduate degree in business administration with a minor in mathematics from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse.
