Congratulations to the UW-Eau Claire student chapter of APICS—the Association of Operations Management, for taking second place at the Region 14 Tenth Annual Student Case Competition held February 4-5, 2005 in Downers Grove , Illinois.
The UW-Eau Claire student group competed against thirteen teams from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Texas and Wisconsin. For their accomplishment, the UW-Eau Claire team brought home over $800 in prize money. Theresa Wells, Department of Management and Marketing is the UW-Eau Claire APICS chapter adviser.
The APICS Student Case Competition allows students to compare their education with that of other students and test their classroom education in solving real-world situations. Student groups are given a case at 9:00 pm on the first day of the event and have until 12:00 noon the following day to put together a three-page written document with diagrams. Each team also makes a five-minute presentation to the judges.
