The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is offering a new career service to alumni. Alumni CareerLink, offered free of charge by the university's Academic and Career Services, is an online searchable database that will allow alumni employers to list job openings and search profiles of available candidates. It also will allow alumni seeking employment to search for positions and to list their own profiles for employers to view.
"We think this is a great new opportunity for UW-Eau Claire alumni employers and employees to help each other," said Jeanne Skoug, director of Career Services. "We have often had requests for this type of service. Many alumni employers want to help other Blugolds get started in their careers or move up the career ladder, and this database gives them the tool to do just that."
To list themselves either as an employer or candidate seeking employment, alumni can go to the Web site and follow the directions for posting their information. The site will allow alumni seeking employment to list themselves anonymously if they wish to keep their job search confidential.
The opportunity to screen each other based on a common understanding of the excellent quality of a UW-Eau Claire education is a real plus for both the employer and employee, said John Bachmeier, UW-Eau Claire director of alumni relations.
"It's a win-win situation for our alumni," Bachmeier said. "Employees have the chance to connect with employers who share a common history of education. Employers know they are getting employees who've attended a university where excellence is more than a motto, it's a tradition."
