Internship Mania to be Held at UW-Eau Claire Feb. 10

University of Wisconsin Eau Claire students can explore internship opportunities and acquire employment tips at Internship Mania 2004, a free event that will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, in the Council Fire Room of Davies Center.

Numerous employers from the Chippewa Valley, other Wisconsin cities, Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois will staff booths highlighting their companies and internship opportunities in several areas, including chemistry, social work, communications and business.

“It allows students from all majors to do some face-to-face networking with a variety of employers,” said career counselor and event coordinator, Eileen Oswald.

Oswald believes that interning is a critical task for students of all majors. “In the past, internships were looked at as optional,” she said. “But now they have almost become required.”

The event, which drew about 1,500 students and 100 employers last year, also includes resume and cover letter critiques, mock interviews and a “Dress for Success” fashion show.

Space is available for employers who still wish to purchase booth space. Registration for the event is available online and costs $125, which includes one six-foot table, continental breakfast and lunch. Employers interested in attending but who do not have the necessary funding may apply for an employer scholarship.
