The College of Business mission and vision statements support and reinforce the university's motto -- Excellence. We have distinguished ourselves from other business programs in Wisconsin and Minnesota through the following accomplishments:

We are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International), a mark of quality achieved by fewer than 15 percent of all business schools in the world.

Our faculty members have strong academic credentials. They are experienced teachers who are applied researchers, consultants and board members of professional and nonprofit organizations. Many hold additional professional certifications in their fields.

Our students are in demand. 98% of College of Business graduates report they are employed or continuing their education, as reported in the UW-Eau Claire Career Employment Survey, 2007-2008.

Our MBA program has been recognized as both innovative and creative by AACSB International. The graduate curriculum is based on integrated, theme-based modules rather than traditional stand-alone courses. The program balances theory with application, number crunching with interpersonal skill development, and team projects with individual assignments.

Our online MBA Program is named a “Best Buy MBA”. The UW MBA Consortium has received a “Best Buy MBA” rating by GetEducated.com, the only clearinghouse in the USA dedicated exclusively to showcasing accredited online degrees. GetEducated.com is rated #1 in consumer trust by Newsweek and CNN Money.

We are innovators in technology and online education. Specialized learning environments funded by gifts from corporate donors prepare our students to compete in an increasingly electronic and global economy. Our online courses, undergraduate and graduate certificate programs and our Consortium MBA meet the needs of time and place bound students.

Accounting students give back to the community by working with low income tax payers through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. We are the only accounting program in the region to require all accounting majors to participate in VITA.

Our CPA exam pass rate is consistently the highest of all the UW comprehensive schools with large accounting programs, and is consistently above the national average pass rate.

Our finance program prepares students for careers in corporate finance, investments and banking. Recruiters from the Fortune 500, to small local companies, find our students’ technical analytical skills and ability to effectively apply of those skills to business decisions to be outstanding.

Our students are excellent communicators. All COB students must receive a grade of B- or better in their required business writing and presentation courses. More than 25% of our students take advanced course work to complete a business communication certificate.

Our Student Professional Development Program teaches students how to present themselves in a professional manner. This required program, which is unique to UW-Eau Claire, focuses on career development, professional etiquette and attire, and the job campaign.

Management majors complete certification examinations as part of their degree requirements. All HR and operations/material management majors must pass at least one professional certification examination offered by the Society for Human Resource Management or APICS-the Association for Operations Management prior to graduation.

Our HR Program has been endorsed by the Society for Human Resource Management for aligning with its recommended curriculum. Currently, only 53 programs at 48 educational institutions across the world meet SHRM’s educational standards.

Students in the Dennis L. Heyde Entrepreneur Program gain real-world, start-up experience by presenting business plans for their newly developed ventures to a panel of local business leaders and investors.

Our Information Systems (IS) program has the largest student enrollment in the UW System and one of the largest programs in the Upper Midwest.

New programs in marketing analytics, and information systems audit and control are fast growing specialties that meet industry demand for employees who access and use information technology for decision-making. We are one of 10 schools nationwide to provide our marketing analytics students with Nielsen’s propriety software and research database. Our audit and control program meets standards set by ISACA.

Marketing and professional sales students test their skills at regional and national collegiate competitions. We are hosts to the Great Northwoods Sales Warm-Up, a competition that attracts students from across the Midwest. More than 20% of our students study or complete internships in Australia, Austria, England, Germany, Greece, India, Ireland, Japan, Mexico, Scotland, South Korea and Sweden. 100% of international business minors study abroad or complete an international internship.
