The College of Business mission and vision statements support and reinforce the university's motto -- Excellence. We have distinguished ourselves from other business programs in Wisconsin and Minnesota through the following accomplishments:

Our business programs are accredited at both the undergraduate and graduate level by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International), a mark of quality achieved by fewer than 15 percent of all business schools in the world.

Our health care administration program is accredited by NAB, National Association of Board of Examiners of Long Term Care Administrators. Our program is one of only six programs in the country that meets NAB's criteria for top quality education and training of long term care administrators.

Our faculty members have strong academic credentials. They are professionally active in applied research, consulting, and serve on boards of corporate and nonprofit organizations.

Our students are in demand. 99.7% of College of Business graduates report they are employed or continuing their education, as reported in the UW-Eau Claire Career Employment Survey, 2006-2007.

Our MBA program has been recognized as both innovative and creative by AACSB International. The graduate curriculum is based on integrated, theme-based modules rather than traditional stand-alone courses. The program balances theory with application, number crunching with interpersonal skill development, and team projects with individual assignments.

We are innovators in distance learning. We offer online undergraduate business courses through the Business Alliance. We also offer an online graduate business certificate, MBA Foundation program and MBA degree program through the University of Wisconsin MBA Consortium.

Our Accounting program is ranked in the top 25% in the nation in the percentage of graduates who pass the CPA exam on their first try, a reflection of the strength of our accounting program and the exceptional quality of our students.

Finance students gain hands-on investment experience through the Student Investment Management Program. Students in this program manage the Clearwater Fund, which was created by the UW-Eau Claire Foundation with an initial investment of $200,000. Over the past two years, the fund has generated a 15 percent return on investment.

Our Business Communication curriculum is a model for other business colleges in the United States. The Business Communication Department offers students a series of courses that are designed to develop students' written and oral communication skills. Students may achieve the Advanced Business Communication Certificate by completing five Business Communication courses.

Newly revised Information Systems programs better serve students, employers. The IS department has changed its name and revised its academic programs to better address student career interests and current IS trends in business and industry.

Our Management majors complete certification examinations as part of their degree requirements. HR students and Operations/Material Management majors must take and pass one professional certification examination (SHRM, APICS, ASQC, or NAPM) prior to graduation.

Over 90% of our IS students qualify for the ISA certification on their first attempt. At the end of their program, IS majors sit for the Information Systems (IS) exam sponsored by the Institute for the Certification of Computer Professionals (ICCP). This pass rate is a reflection of the strength of our IS program and the exceptional quality of our students.

Our Entrepreneur Program is one of the most comprehensive programs in the state. Faculty and area business people help students develop their own business plans. Graduates can compete for start-up funds through the Blugold Angel Fund.

The Student Professional Development Program teaches students how to present themselves in a professional manner. The required program for business students consists of four workshops: career planning, professional appearance, professional etiquette, and the job campaign. This program is unique to UW-Eau Claire.

Our marketing students excel at sales. The UW-Eau Claire marketing team took 9th place at the 2008 National Sales Competition, beating teams from such schools as Babson College, Ball State University, Clemson, Northern Illinois, and Purdue. The national competition is held annually at Kennisaw State University in Atlanta, Georgia.

Our business students can focus their general education and business courses in international areas to achieve a broader education. Starting their freshmen year, business students can take courses which combine a global minor with an international business minor or international business certificate. No other business college in the State of Wisconsin or Minnesota offers their students this combined educational opportunity.

Our APICS chapter participates at annual regional case competition. The UW-Eau Claire student chapter of APICS-the Association of Operations Management, participated in the Region 14 Annual Student Case Competition held February 15-16, 2008 in Oak Brook, Illinois. The six member team succeeded in developing an innovative inventory storage and picking system that was practical and cost effective.

The Health Care Administration practicum allows students to apply their skills in a year long, advanced educational experience. This unique university-provider partnership is a national model for similar health care programs across the country.

We are leaders in technology. The Mason Companies CyberLab and specialized business labs prepare undergraduate and graduate business students to compete in an increasingly electronic and global economy. No other business school in Wisconsin or Minnesota provides their students with all of these technology-related learning environments.
