Why you became a preceptor?
To help the next generation of Senior Housing Managers because some day they will be taking care of me.
How often do you interact with students, in what way?
Most of the time we will visit daily to discuss the current tasks. Some of the time we will share an office, so that you can get a real sense of what goes on.
What is your philosophy on mentoring/supervision?
I believe in a very hands-on approach, so you will be provided with lots of opportunities! I like to review work as it progresses, so that it can be used for greater learning. Never be afraid to ask a question.
How do you encourage the student's growth?
Some tasks or responsibilities will be complex, however, we (Green Hills staff and I) will support you as you complete them. The hands-on tasks at Green Hills will affect the community for years to come, so your work will be valued and appreciated.
What else should practicum students expect from you or from their overall experience at your facility?
Direct, open and honest communications. Both the staff and the residents of Green Hills are great to work with and theyare open to having students on campus.
