Note: Significant curriculum changes have been made to the HCAD major, beginning with the 2008-09 catalog. You may “upgrade” to a new catalog if you wish; however, you must meet ALL degree requirements of your new catalog. To help you determine which catalog is best for you, you can request a “what if” degree audit for that catalog year. You only need to submit ONE degree plan with your application.

Your Application Essay

We want to know how your participation in the HCAD program will add value – to you, to your classmates, the program, and the field. Your essay should be concise, not to exceed two typed pages, well-thought out and well-written. It should answer the following questions:

  • What do you bring or have to offer to the Health Care Administration Program and your future classmates?
  • Why do you want to receive a degree in Health Care Administration?
  • What have you done to prepare yourself for a future career in Health Care Administration (work or volunteer experiences, books or articles you’ve read, activities you’ve participated in, etc.)?
  • What do you see yourself doing in five to ten years?
