Most of them hail from the Midwest. The majority of graduates are from Wisconsin and Minnesota. Iowa, Kansas, Arizona, Georgia, and Maryland are also represented.
They have diverse educational backgrounds. They came to the MBA program not only from the UW System and private Wisconsin colleges but also from schools such as the University of Denver. One person has degrees from George Washington University, University of Maryland University College, and Pennsylvania State University.
They have diverse careers. Although some were full-time students, many are also employed. Their employers cover a wide range of industries, including, among others, the banking industry, technology, health care, and manufacturing. One works for Ayres Associates and another works for Harley-Davidson.
They like the great outdoors and any sport they can do there. They like to get around: We have people who like to walk, swim, snowboard, ski, bike, and horseback ride. They like to compete in marathons and triathlons. Other sports include tennis, soccer, baseball, basketball, and volleyball.
They have interesting hobbies and families. We have a few fantasy football leaguers. One person owns both an iguana and a bearded dragon. One collects cars. Some like to cook and others like to eat…some while tailgating. Some invest money for fun (and maybe profit?).
They have big goals. Many hope that their new MBA will lead to a job in management. Others hope to own their own businesses. One wants to be a chief information officer of a corporation. Another hopes to obtain a sub five-hour time in a half ironman.
They’ve had a variety of learning experiences. From Semester at Sea to serving as a consultant in Delhi, India, and experiencing both the boom and bust of a .com business, our graduates have learned valuable lessons from their experiences.
