the ESSENTIALS PROGRAM

Essential courses or the Essentials of Business Administration certificate are available to current UW-Eau Claire students who aren't business majors or minors, or Health Care Administration majors. Essentials courses can not be used to fulfill requirements for a business major or minor, Health Care administration major, or MBA program.

the Essentials Program

the Essentials Program

The Essentials series of courses are designed to give you a broad overview of marketing, management, accounting, finance, and information systems. Most courses are seven weeks long and are offered online through Desire2Learn, a user-focused, web-based “classroom.” Classes start at the beginning of the semester and again in the middle of the semester.

You can take just one course. Or, you can complete the entire 13-credit Essentials of Business Administration certificate. Courses have no prerequisites and can be taken in any sequence.

To earn the certificate, you must complete two required courses: Introduction to the World of Business and Essentials of Accounting, plus five electives from the Essentials course series. Your overall GPA for courses applied toward the certificate must be 2.25. Taking one class at a time, you can complete the certificate in only three semesters.

You will receive a certificate once you have completed the program. Completion of The Essentials of Business Administration Certificate will also be noted on your official UW-Eau Claire transcript.

To have the Essentials of Business Administration certificate recorded on your transcript, submit the Essentials certificate form to Cynthia Hofacker, Essentials Program coordinator, during the semester you expect to complete requirements.
