The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Center for Health and Aging Services Excellence (CHASE) was established in 2000 to serve the ever-changing health care needs of the upper Midwest. CHASE supports the UW-Eau Claire health care administration program through financial and programming assistance.
To ensure that capable leaders for the health and aging services field are available in sufficient numbers to meet the needs of the upper Midwest.
To support the UW-Eau Claire health care administration program by providing guidance, engaging in partnerships, serving as ambassadors, and generating financial support to promote excellence.
To enhance learning opportunities for students on campus and in the practicum by providing supplemental educational services.
To establish and maintain strong relationships between the health care provider community and the university.
To market the health and aging services field as a noble profession by disseminating information to WHOM through a broad range of vehicles, including publications, and presentations.
To encourage an applied research agenda for the health and aging services field by developing and supporting collaborative research between faculty, providers, and the community.
To promote alternative regional educational programs for adult learners and providers through collaborative partnerships between regional universities and health and aging services.
To serve as an advocate for and provide legislative testimony on issues of health care and aging.
The CHASE Board of Advisers, along with faculty in the Health Care Administration Program, have identified four major initiatives for CHASE and the Health Care Administration Program
Enhance student opportunities, including more scholarships, pre-practicum retreats, undergraduate research opportunities and support for students to attend state professional meetings.
Establish a regional presence, including expanding the program's service capacity to a broader geographic area.
Demonstrate national leadership by supporting faculty, student and staff presence at national meetings to provide insight on best practices.
Grow service capacity to increase awareness and develop more partnerships between the program and the profession it serves.
One of the primary agendas for the CHASE Board of Advisers meeting this April is to refine and update the strategic plan. In part, the recent health care administration program and Center move to the College of Business has served as a catalyst to revisit these future plans with a new energy and perspective.
We will keep you informed of our activities and progress over the next few months. Please feel free to contact Dr. Olson at olsondou@uwec.edu if you have any questions, suggestions or would like additional information.
