Planting the Seeds of Success

Planting the Seeds of Success: CHASE Annual Spring Banquet Thursday, April 2

This year’s annual Health Care Administration/CHASE Spring Banquet, “Planting the Seeds of Success” is scheduled for Thursday, April 2 at the Plaza Hotel & Suites in Eau Claire. Randy Lindner, President and CEO of the National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB), will present the keynote address.

In addition to Mr. Lindner’s keynote presentation, the fifth annual Practicum Open House will begin at 5 p.m. at the Plaza Hotel. Similar to a job or internship fair, the Practicum Open House gives exposure to the practicum sites and organizations that will be available to students as they enter the practicum and venture into the workplace. Following the open house is a social hour at 6 p.m., and the banquet will begin at 7 p.m.

Please mark your calendars as your presence is very important at this event. Our students look forward to the opportunity to interact with graduates of the program and professionals in the field of health and aging services.

RSVP to Meredith Wolf at wolfm@uwec.edu or 715-836-3543. Be sure to specify if you will be attending the practicum open house.

Required Careerlink Subscription Aims to Benefit Students, Employers

Beginning in Fall 2009, all College of Business Students, including Health Care Adminstration majors will be required to purchase an account on Blugold Careerlink, an employment database offered through the University's Career Services. This database allows UW-Eau Claire students to find and apply to a variety of employment opportunities throughout the nation. Employers are able to search for and/or receive the resumes of qualified candidates.

College of Business Career and Employment Manager Jessica Gardner said the requirement will be an easier way for students and alumni to build stronger networks with potential employers.

"We're looking forward to enhancing connections for students and alumni with employers in the health care field." Gardner said. For more information, or if you have questions contact Jessica at gardnejj@uwec.edu or 715-836-2927.

The interface includes areas where users can upload resumes, coverletters and references which subscribing employers can access. Employers can also post job and internship openings at no cost.

The cost for students to register on Blugold Career Link will be a one-time fee of $25.00 which will give them lifetime access to the online network.
