An international internship provides students with the opportunity to gain first hand experience with a company’s international business operations. Any junior or senior student who is admitted to the College of Business, is in good academic standing, and has satisfied specific department prerequisites is eligible for an international internship. Students with language competency are encouraged to choose an internship that corresponds to their foreign language specialty.
An international internship must be taken for academic credit if it is used to satisfy course requirements in the International Business minor. In order to get credit for the internship, the experience must be three to eight months long, and completed with a company or subsidiary located outside of the United States OR in the international division of a company located in the United States.
In addition to satisfying the College of Business internship guidelines, a student completing an international internship must fulfill College of Business international business internship guidelines. These guidelines are as follows:
It is highly recommended that students complete MKTG 335 (International Marketing) prior to applying for an international business internship. International business internships must be approved by both the student’s department chair and the coordinator of College of Business International Business Programs.
