Student Survey
In the spring of 2006, over 500 students were verbally surveyed during classroom presentations. They along with 252 other students were encouraged to complete a web survey to which 55 responded.
A sample of the comments made in the classroom and the summary of the student survey comments are available. The summary includes suggestions for ways teachers can show respect for students, ways students can show respect for teachers, ways everyone can show respect, and examples of incivility.
Faculty, Academic Staff, Classified, and LTE Survey
In the spring of 2006, employees of the University Community at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire were asked to complete a web survey related to one’s ideas about civility. Of those responding, 67 self identified as Faculty or Instructional Academic Staff, 53 as Administrative and Professional Academic Staff, 56 as Classified Staff, 13 as Limited Term Employees, and 2 unidentified. One summary includes excerpts from participants in the survey organized around four themes:

Another survey summary provides suggestions for supervisors related to establishing civil work environments. A listing of incivility examples gathered from the surveys are also available as are a listing of suggested tools and methods for helping raise civility awareness.
