If you have a question about UW-Eau Claire Circle K, fill out our Information Request Form or contact one of the club's leaders!
Circle K International is a collegiate service organization with a worldwide membership promoting service, leadership, and fellowship.
Although each Circle K club is sponsored by a Kiwanis club, college and university students govern the organization on all levels. A board of officers on the club and district levels and an International Board of Trustees comprise the leadership teams.
Currently, Circle K International has a membership of over 12,000 college students on 507 campuses in 15 nations in North and South America, the Caribbean, Southeast Asia, and West Africa.
Membership benefits provided at the International level include receiving "Circle K Magazine" five times a year, being eligible to apply for scholarships through international, and being able to attend International convention (speakers, leadership training, social activities, service fair, and more) in the summer. There are also many resources available to members online at the Circle K International website.
The Wisconsin-Upper Michigan (W-UM) District of Circle K consists of 7 divisions, clubs on 23 campuses, and approximately 500 members. UW-Eau Claire's Circle K Club is in the Chippewa Division, along with the clubs at UW-Stevens Point and UW-La Crosse.
This district is known at the international level for having many district events and great Kiwanis Family relations. District events take place on weekends and typically consist of a service project(s), workshops, a dance, and a variety of other social activities, including late-night trips to Denny's and IHOP. There are also at least two district-wide Kiwanis Family events a year for members of all branches of the K-Family to attend.
Eleven members of the district board are elected at District Convention each March, with the rest of the board being appointed by the district governor.
Membership benefits provided at the district level include receiving the "Circle of Sharing" (district bulletin) five times a year, being eligible to apply for scholarships at the district level, being able to attend district events at a reduced rate, and being eligible to run for district leadership positions. Other perks include making friends from other schools in the district and getting to see friends from high school who are members of Circle K at other schools at district events. You also have the opportunity to network with Kiwanians throughout the district, which can be helpful when you are looking for internships and jobs.
The UW-Eau Claire Circle K Club is a community service organization at UW-Eau Claire, and meetings are Tuesdays at 5 p.m.. The local club was chartered in 1979 and is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Eau Claire (Thursday noon club).
Like its Kiwanis Family counterparts at a variety of levels, the primary purpose of this club is to provide volunteer service. The UW-Eau Claire Circle K Club plans many service projects each year and works with organizations and groups including area assisted living homes and hospitals, area schools, Special Olympics, the American Cancer Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Parks and Recreation, and many more. Each year, the club plans a service-learning project members can participate in, too.
There are also opportunities to develop leadership skills on the club level by running for a club officer position or filling a club committee chair position.
In addition, there are many social activities held by the club, which makes it easy to develop close friendships with other Circle K'ers. Just a few examples of social activities held by UWEC Circle K include movie nights, going out for dinner, cookouts, going to Action City, bowling, mini-golf, and the annual Kiwanis Family Gala (dinner-dance).
By and large, the best benefit of joining Circle K is the people! Not only do you get to know other Circle K'ers, but you also get to know other members of the Kiwanis Family through joint service projects and social activities.
