ELIGIBILITY: To apply, you must be a currently enrolled, degree-seeking, undergraduate UW-Eau Claire student. You need to be in good academic standing and have a cumulative resident GPA of 2.3. You must have completed Spanish 202 prior to participation in this program. You may apply as freshman but must have at least sophomore standing by the time the program begins. COURSES/ COURSE EQUIVALENCIES During this six week program you will take two 3 credit Spanish language or Culture courses for a total of six credits. The following courses will be tentatively offered during summer 2013: Spanish Language Courses: Span 301: Advanced Composition (3 credits) Span 302: Advanced Conversation & Composition (3 credits) Span 352: Contemporary Spanish American Civilization (3 credits)- Effective 1/9/2013: This course is full for summer 2013. Span 405: Advanced Conversation (3 credits) Culture Course (taught in Spanish) Culture of Costa Rica (3 credits of Span 930U, Spanish upper division elective) WOMEN IN NICARAGUA PROGRAM If you are interested in extending your program and would like to explore another Central American country, think about joining the three week Women in Nicaragua program. Women in Nicaragua begins right after the Costa Rica Summer program ends. ACADEMIC CALENDAR This program typically begins the last week of May and ends the first week of July. Exact program dates are available the semester prior to departure.
