Students are asked to submit a recommendation to study abroad. Our office
allows applicants to request online recommendations from faculty members, staff
and non-UW-Eau Claire faculty/staff. For your convenience, the recommendation
may be completed online through our website. Once a student requests a
recommendation, you will receive an email from studyabroad@uwec.edu, with “Recommendation
Request from Student Name” in the subject line. Sometimes this email may go to spam, please check
your spam or junk mail folder to ensure you received the email. If you did not,
please tell the student to contact the Center for International Education. We
are able to resend the recommendation request on their behalf. Students are only able to request ONE letter. We encourage you to compose the recommendation in a word document first, and
then copy and paste it into the recommendation once you are ready to submit.
You have two options to complete the recommendation:
Option 1 - Simple Complete (Does not require login)
The recommendation request email contains a Recommendation ID#
and the name of the applicant who issued the request. Please use the login
link provided in the email and enter these credentials in order to
access the student's recommendation.
Option 2 -Complete the recommendation as a user (Requires login)
You have the option of logging in as a user in our recommendation system
so that you can see all of your pending recommendation requests, view
recommendations that you have created, and communicate more effectively with the
study abroad office.
UW-Eau Claire user:
Please click on the UW-Eau Claire user login link in
the email and login using your UW-Eau Claire username and password.Once you login, you will see all of the students names who have requested recommendations from you. Click on the student's name to access the recommendation.
Non-UW-Eau Claire user:
To create an account, please click on the General non-UW-Eau
Claire login link in the email and use the temporary login credentials provided
in the email to login. You will be prompted to change your password at that
time. Please note that temporary passwords are only valid for 7 days. Once you login, you will see all of the students names who have requested
recommendations from you. Click on the student's name to access the
recommendation.
If you choose to create an account, you can login at anytime via the "Login" link on the top navigation bar of our website.
Deadline Information:

November 15* (all summer, fall, academic year programs)
April 1* (all spring/winterim/calendar year programs)
*If these dates fall on a weekend or holiday, applications will be accepted the next working day. Some program deadlines may be extended. Please consult the student for the recommendation deadline. The student’s application for study abroad cannot be considered until this recommendation is received.
