Joyal & Alexander Study Abroad Reentry Facilitation Scholarship
JOYAL & ALEXANDER STUDY ABROAD REENTRY FACILITATION SCHOLARSHIP
The Joyal/Alexander scholarship is designed to help with the re-entry “culture shock” of UWEC study-abroad students who are returning from study abroad experiences. The selected student will work with the CIE to coordinate reentry events for returning study abroad students. Past events have included:
Welcome Home, Blugolds gathering
Resume, Cover Letter and Interview Tips
Opportunities to Go Abroad Again
Assist with gathering returnees for the Centennial Celebration parade
One scholarship of $700, to be disbursed in $350 awards at the conclusion of each semester’s work period, will be awarded.
The recipient will complete an internship with the UW-Eau Claire Center for International Education from mid-August to mid-October and again in mid-January to mid-March during the year the recipient has the Joyal-Alexander Scholarship. The student will spend an average of 5 hours/week either in the office, working on projects or facilitating related events.
To apply for this scholarship you must meet the following criteria:
Have studied on a UW-Eau Claire study abroad program for a minimum of 1 semester
Have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0
Be a continuing, full-time student at UW-Eau Claire, be available beginning in mid-August, and be on campus* during the entire 2016-2017 academic year
Demonstrated leadership ability, interest in connecting/expanding study abroad experience on campus and in future plans, ability to work independently and take initiative, demonstrated organizational skills, a flexible schedule, and dedication to community service at home and abroad are qualities desired in the successful applicant.
The application deadline has been extended to June 8th!
*This means that applicants cannot be participating in another study abroad program, an off-campus internship, etc. It does not mean that you must live on campus.
