The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and the University of Winchester have been exchanging students since 1981. Over 200 students from each institution have participated. As a UW-Eau Claire student at the University of Winchester, you will take classes from British professors, with British classmates. You will live in on-campus housing with British roommates. When you have finished your semester, you will be able to say that you truly experienced academic life in another culture. To learn more the University of Winchester, click here.

The ancient capital of England, Winchester is located in the South of England, not far from the coast. It is a beautiful city with a population of 60,000. Winchester boasts many fine, old buildings which remind students of its ancient past, yet it has a thriving modern cultural and commercial life. London is 65 miles away by train or bus.

International students live in catered dormitories. Although there are some double rooms on campus, you generally have single rooms and share common space with British or international floormates. You will have two meals per day in the university cafeteria. For your additional meal, you'll find groceries at Sainsburys, Somerfields and the farmers' market, as well as many restaurants in the city. To learn more, visit the University of Winchester's Student Accommodation page.

"I would sum up my experience as once in a lifetime, with memories and friendships that will last a lifetime. I learned so much about myself and became independent and confident in my social and academic abilities." - Ashleigh, Spring 2016

"I made some of the most incredible memories while in Winchester, some were people, others places, and of course there were unforgettable moments." - Anonymous, Spring 2016

"My experience abroad has given me an irreplaceable opportunity to explore a new culture, myself, and the world." – Jordan, Spring 2013

"My time studying at the University of Winchester was enriching through course work and I learned a lot about myself being placed in an entirely new environment. I was able to be more independent than ever by dealing with difficulties and differences between the UK and home. I also developed great planning, money management, and flexibility skills while traveling around Europe and creating close friendships with people from around the world was a wonderful addition to my overall experience" – Rachel, Spring 2013

Winchester is a great starting point for more adventures. Stonehenge, Bath, London and the southern English coast are easy day trips. Or head to London, hop the Eurostar (chunnel train) in the morning and be in Paris by afternoon!
