THE PROGRAM
ISEP is the world's largest network of universities cooperating to provide international education experiences for their students. UW-Eau Claire is an ISEP Affiliate member, which gives our students access to ISEP-Direct. ISEP-Direct programs are fee-paid programs that provide study opportunities at select ISEP institutions outside the United States.

The University of Murcia is a public university. It was founded in the 13th century and has almost 30,000 students. With four campuses connected via public transportation, the university has comprehensive course offerings in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and business.
The University of Murcia offers modern facilities and boasts the Experimental Science Support Service, two extensive libraries, as and many specialized institutes. The university also has a great number of sport facilities, computer labs in many buildings and a wide variety of cultural and extra-curricular activities.

THE LOCATION
A true wedge among the regions of Valencia, Castilla-La Mancha and Andalusia, Murcia is the product of a crossing of civilizations throughout its history: Muslim, Castilian and Valencian-Aragones have all left their traces in the city. Situated in southeastern Spain, Murcia has a Mediterranean climate with very little rainfall and enjoys more hours of sunlight per year than most Spanish cities. Its fertile soil, bathed by the Segura River, has provided the nickname for which Murcia is known: the Orchard of Europe. Two seas are located in the region: the Mediterranean Sea and the Mar Menor are tranquil and warm all year.

STUDENT EXPERIENCE
"The ISEP program at my University in Murcia set me up in an apartment with people from Spain and elsewhere. The assistance and help they were always ready to give made it all the better. Murcia es lo mejor!!" - Jason

"My time abroad changed the way I think about America's relations with the entire world. It made me challenge my own personal boundaries and ideologies. Over all, I am a better, stronger, smarter person for having studied abroad for the year."  Student, Academic Year 2011-2012

IS ISEP FOR ME?
The best way to think of an ISEP-Direct experience is to imagine that you are going to study at a university abroad, just as international students come to study in the U.S. If you are independent, flexible, and adventurous, ISEP-Direct programs are a good choice for you. Here's why:

Adventure
Because you may be the first UW-Eau Claire student going to an ISEP university, you will not have all of the details available to you that you could expect if you chose one of the more group-oriented UW-Eau Claire programs.

Flexibility
Communication with your host university may take longer. You will need to be flexible and willing to live with a fair amount of ambiguity as your prepare to go abroad. For example, you will most likely not know exactly how your classes from your ISEP host university will transfer to UW-Eau Claire until after you actually register for classes.

Independence
You may be the only UW-Eau Claire student going to a particular ISEP-Direct site. However, you may also be one of a large number of international students at your site, and you may need to ask many questions to find your way around at first.
