Special Education in Scotland, Academics

ELIGIBILITY
This program is open to currently enrolled, degree-seeking UW- Eau Claire students who are majors or minors in SPED, CI, and Communication Disorders. You must be in good academic standing with a cumulative resident GPA of at least 2.75. You may apply as a freshman but must have at least sophomore standing by the time the program begins.

COURSES/ COURSE EQUIVALENCIES
While the program is primarily a summer program, participants must be available for several pre-and-post program classes.

Students take the following two courses for a total of 6 credits:

SPED 350.02 Introduction to Emotional/Behavioral Disorders (3 credits) Pre-req: Limited to teaching majors accepted to the School of Education and Human Sciences.

SPED 495 Community and School Experience in Special Education in Scotland (3 credits)

Note: A substitution for SPED 205 is possible. Please discuss this with Dr. Battalio.

ACADEMIC CALENDAR
Although the program calendar still being finalized, the tentative program dates are May 23 to July 6, 2013.
