To apply, you must be a currently-enrolled, degree-seeking undergraduate UW-Eau Claire student . A cumulative GPA of 2.3 and good academic standing are required. You may apply as a freshman but must have at least sophomore by the time the program begins.
COURSES Harlaxton and UWEC faculty. Harlaxton College courses are taught by a combination of British faculty and visiting U.S. faculty. In 2015-2016, the following UW-Eau Claire faculty will teach on the program.
Harlaxton Courses and Credits. You will enroll in three to four courses for a total of 12 to 15 credits at Harlaxton College. You are required to enroll in the six-credit British Studies course, which comes back to UW-Eau Claire as 2 three-credit courses. Three different versions of the British Studies course are available:
ID H282 British Studies Lower Division= UWEC Ints 170 (3 credits) and History Elective LD GE 4 (3 credits)
ID H382 British Studies Upper Division= UWEC Ints 370 (3 credits) and History Elective UD GE 4 (3 credits)
ID H382H British Studies Honors Upper Division=UWEC Ints 370 (3 credits) and History Elective UD GE 4 (3 credits). A petition must be filled to count the courses towards the UW-Eau Claire honors requirement.
Honors option. In addition to the British Studies honors sections, students can turn any Harlaxton course into an honors courses by contracting with the professor to complete additional work. Please discuss a petition with UW-Eau Claire Honors Program.
Nursing option. Harlaxton offers a nursing option in the fall semester. UWEC nursing students in the first-semester of their junior year can apply to spend the first-semester of their senior year at Harlaxton. Students interested in this option should be aware that there are limited placements and that the courses offered at Harlaxton do not contain content in acute pediatrics. Interested students must complete a change of program form with the College of Nursing at the same time that they apply to the Harlaxton program. For information about this option and course transfer, please contact the Harlaxton program coordinator at the Center for International Education.
This program fulfills the complete Foreign Culture requirement upon successful completion. Please email Degree Review at email@example.com after completion of the program to update your degree audit. (Students earning a B.A., B.F.A. or B.M degree in the College of Arts & Sciences cannot use study abroad to fulfill their foreign language/foreign culture requirement. Fall semester runs from late August to mid December. Spring semester runs early January to mid April. Exact dates will be available the semester before you go.
