The
Program
STUDY IN CHINA!
Whether it is the adventure of exploring one of the world's oldest civilizations or the appeal of experiencing first-hand the world's fastest growing economy, China has something for everyone.
Peking University, founded in 1898, is widely recognized as the best humanities and social sciences university in China. It enrolls 28,000 students, including 2,000 international students. Located in northwest Beijing, the large, walled campus includes several lakes and spectacular ancient and modern architecture.
Excursions within Beijing, as well as to the Great Wall, are included in the program costs.
Location
Beijing (population 9.5 million) has been the capital of China for most of the last 700 years. It is not only the political center of China, but the cultural and intellectual center as well. Three thousand years of Chinese history can be explored within the city.
Courses
The program offers the opportunity to study intensive Chinese language (Mandarin) at an appropriate level. No previous Chinese language study is required; elementary, intermediate or advanced courses are available. The language courses are specifically designed for English speakers rather than for students whose first language is character-based.
In addition to the language courses, at least one Chinese culture course, taught in English, will be offered each semester.
Accommodations
You will live in double rooms in foreign student housing and have access to the Peking University Foreign Student Cafeteria.
Academic
Calendar
Fall semester begins in September and ends in January; spring begins in February and ends in June. Exact dates are available the semester prior to participation.

The estimated Wisconsin resident fee for one semester in 2008 is $8,100.This includes full-time tuition, a double room in the university residence halls, on-site orientation and resident director, and ISEP and UW-Eau Claire administrative fees. Minnesota residents may apply for reciprocity; residents of other states add $900.
Additional costs include: a passport, a $500 ISEP program deposit, mandatory ISEP insurance, roundtrip transportation, books, meals and personal expenses. Estimate an additional $2,500 for these expenses.
Total Wisconsin resident cost estimate: $10,600. Cost estimates may change at any time.
