Since most Pau students choose to live with host families, the key to having an active life outside of classes is to be actively involved with your family!

EXPLORE SOUTHERN FRANCE!
USAC organizes three field trips in southern France each semester. These bus trips generally take place on weekends and are included in the program fees. In Students on the beach spring 2010, the local excursions/field trips are to Bordeaux, the French Basque Country (St. Jean-Pied-de-Port), and Toulouse and Carcassonne. You also have the opportunity to participate in a field trip to Paris for an additional $500. For year-long students, the optional Paris trip occurs at the beginning of fall semester. For spring students, it is at the end of the spring semester.

My experience in Pau was wonderful. It may not have been my preferred city to study abroad in, but I figured out ways to connect to the cities I wanted to travel to as well as appreciate Pau for it offerings. I really enjoyed learning more about the French culture and speaking with the French people. Learning how to feel comfortable with the new langage and systems (ex: traveling by train!) made for an interesing and challenging experience which I loved. I can't wait to move back here some day! -Erin

An excellent opportunity for personal growth.My language skills tripled. I learned much about the culture, especially the different viewpoints people have about the world. I loved exploring southern France, and I equally enjoyed meeting students from countries around the globe. -Sarah
