The ProgramVolcano

STUDY IN NICARAGUA!
The women's movement in Nicaragua is arguably the most dynamic in Latin America. Nicaraguan women are taking charge of their lives, empowering themselves economically and politically.

This program will engage you in the lives of some of these women. Talking with them about their societal roles and taking field trips to see different ways that women live will help you understand feminism in the context of a developing country and to become a more engaged citizen in the world community.

The growing number of Spanish speakers in the United States has increased the need for individuals who can speak Spanish and who have an understanding of Latin American culture. This program will also help you gain the necessary language and cultural skills to communicate with Spanish speakers in the U.S.

THE LOCATION
The program is located in Granada, the oldest colonial city in continental America. It sits on the shores of Lake Nicaragua and has retained murch of its historic architecture. Granada has a population of 100,000.

HOUSING & MEALS
You will live with host families. Past participants report that the informal learning with their family was as important as their classwork to their academic experience. In the words of a past student, "I was so glad to live with a host family rather than in a hotel or dorm. It was a great cultural experience."

Excellence. Our Measure. Our Motto. Our Goal.
