ESTIMATED COSTS
Costs for the Central European Travel Seminar are based on numbers of participants. The estimated Wisconsin resident fee for Summer 2010 is $4,367 for 12 students. This includes: three credits of UW-Eau Claire tuition, all lodging and travel within and between cities, two meals a day, all tickets to museums, historic sites, and musical events, CISI insurance, and administrative charges. Minnesota residents may apply for reciprocity, while non-residents should add $900 non-resident fees.
Additional costs include the cost of a passport, one meal/day, personal expenses, and airfare. Estimate another $1,815 for these items.
Total Wisconsin resident estimated cost for the program is $6,182 for a group of 12. Cost are estimated based on participant numbers and November 2009 exchange rates and may change at any time.
FINANCIAL AID/SCHOLARSHIPS
Central European Travel Seminar participants earn 3 credits. At 3 credits, you are considered “less than halftime" for summer financial aid, so housing, meals and personal expenses cannot be included in your financial aid budget. Less than halftime students are not eligible for a Direct Ford Loan but may be considered for a Perkins Loan. If aid eligibility is an important factor in your study abroad budget, you may wish to enroll for an additional 2 or more credits during the 2010 summer session in order to have "halftime or more" status.
If you qualify for financial aid, you can apply your aid to program costs. You can learn about options, including a study abroad grant through the UW-Eau Claire Foundation, a Wisconsin Grant for Study Abroad, and scholarships for specific majors at http://www.uwec.edu/cie/sac/ProsStudents/Advising..
