RE: FREE Continuing Education Coursework in TESOL!!!
The
University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers
of Other Languages) Program has recently been awarded a Federal Title
III Grant that will allow teachers who currently hold instructional positions
in the Eau Claire Area School District to become trained and to receive
a TESOL add-on license. This grant program will allow twenty in-service
teachers to obtain a TESOL add-on license, which consist of 32 credit
hours of university-level coursework. Grant funding covers all TESOL add-on
license expenses for tuition, university fees, and book costs for the
duration of the program.
TESOL Add-on License Cycle of Courses:
Title III Grant Course Schedule:
FALL 2002 - Cohort Alpha (10 in-service teachers)
SPRING 2003 - Flg 378, Engl 125, CJ 301
SUMMER 2003 - Cdis 262, CI 408
FALL 2003 - Cohort Alpha (10 in-service teachers)
SPRING 2004 - CI 405, Engl 221, Psyc 378
SUMMER 2004 - Flg 400, CI 406/607, Anth 315/351
Teachers will be scheduled
to take the 32-credits of coursework part-time over a two year period.
The first cohort will begin in Spring 2003; the second in Fall 2003. We
are currently recruiting 10 teachers to begin taking coursework in the
grant-funded TESOL program in the spring of 2003. Teachers pursuing their
add-on license will learn strategies, techniques, and methods to make
their classroom content comprehensible to English Language Learners in
their classrooms. We would like to invite the teachers at your school
to read more about the program in the attached brochure. For more information
about this grant program, please contact Erica Daniels, who is the Title
III Grant Program Assistant. She will send you an application and additional
information about the problem. She can also answer any questions that
you may have. You can contact her at danielen@uwec.edu
