Programs + Events

The University Centers exemplifies a tradition of quality and innovative programming that anchors and sustains the campus identity. The unit is also a highly responsive partner that develops programming with other units and academic departments, administrative committees, student government and student organizations.

Artists Series

The Artists Series presents quality regional, national and international artists. The variety of events includes ballet, modern dance, theatre, symphony orchestra, world music, jazz, chamber music and recitals. Through the performing arts, the Artists Series seeks to develop aesthetic awareness, promote interdisciplinary appreciation, and cultivate multicultural experience.

Blugold Organizations Bash

At the beginning of each semester this member recruitment fair puts students in touch with others who have similar interests or goals. Students can discover the campus organizations that will give them the best opportunities for friendship, involvement, leadership and job-related experience.

The Cabin

Established in 1968, The Cabin is the longest-running coffeehouse series in the nation.
The free performances hosted nearly every weekend include open stage opportunities and performances by campus and area talent and nationally touring artists. In addition to being a popular performance venue, The Cabin is a state-of-the-art sound and light laboratory for UW-Eau Claire students, a professional performance space that is the definition of green technology.

Campus Films

The University Activities Commission of the Student Senate and the UW-Eau Claire International Film Society screen films nearly every weekend during the academic year.
We project only the best, from classics and cult favorites to contemporary award winners, and admission is free with a Blugold Card or IFS membership card.

Community Action and Lifelong Learning

The Community Action and Lifelong Learning program connects UW-Eau Claire students with volunteer service opportunities in the community. The mission of the program is twofold: helping students learn through community service, and helping community organizations find talented, educated volunteers. Hundreds of students have made a marked difference in the quality of life in the area since the CALL program was established in 1974.


The University Activities Commission of the Student Senate frequently presents on-the-rise regional bands and cutting-edge artists, and occasionally sponsors major performances.

The Forum

One of America’s longest-running lecture programs, The Forum has presented a wealth of contemporary viewpoints since 1942. Speakers have ranged from Margaret Mead to Dian Fossey, Bennett Cerf to Garrison Keillor, Pearl Buck to William Westmoreland, Sinclair Lewis to Michael Moore.

Greek Life

The University Centers provides direct advisement to the fraternity and sorority community. These organizations are rooted in founding principles that foster academic achievement, student involvement, community service and lifelong friendships.


The University Activities Commission of the Student Senate coordinates activities for Homecoming Week, one of the university largest events, with the Alumni Association and other campus offices and student organizations.

International Film Society

Since 1956 the UW-Eau Claire International Film Society has represented a wide variety of countries, cinematic styles, directorial methods, genres and points of view in films that foster a better understanding of other peoples and cultures, and instill a lifelong appreciation for the art of film.

The Lookout

The Lookout is a student-operated event space and dance club in Hilltop Center.


Coordinated by the University Activities Commission of the Student Senate, this annual celebration of music and spring has been a campus tradition since 1986.

Summer Events

Free entertainment is brought to the university community throughout the summer term.


University Centers units, staff, administrative committees and student organizations integrate sustainability and campus life.

University Student Excellence Awards

The campuswide Student Leadership Recognition Awards program was established in 1988 to recognize excellence in student leaders, organizations and advisors. In 2010 the program was merged with the Outstanding Student Awards program, to recognize students’ outstanding accomplishments in areas that reflect the core values of UW-Eau Claire. The University Student Excellence Awards program is sponsored by the University Centers, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Alumni Association and the UW-Eau Claire Foundation.

Viennese Ball

The largest social event hosted annually by UW-Eau Claire, the Viennese Ball showcases the University Symphony Orchestra, performing waltzes from the Strauss era, and Jazz Ensemble I, performing music from America’s Big Band era. Student and faculty ensembles and regional musicians are also featured, performing music from many different periods. Proceeds since 1974 have provided more than $1.5 million in music, service and international study scholarships for University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students.

Winter Carnival

This annual festival is sponsored by the University Activities Commission of the UW-
Eau Claire Student Senate and University Recreation and Sport Facilities.
