Chippewa Valley Youth Symphony

This year marks the 27th season of the Chippewa Valley Youth Symphony (CVYS), an enrichment program for 7th through 12th grade students. Join us for an exciting symphony experience designed to help you grow as a performer and enhance your overall understanding of music. You will work with Music Director Eugene Power and UW-Eau Claire student musicians in both small and large group rehearsals, culminating in four public concerts held throughout the year. Music scores will be provided on loan to you at no additional cost.

To participate, you must register for an audition for orchestra and chair placement. CVYS accepts students based on student skill level and instrumentation needs to create a full and balanced orchestra. Auditions are held in the fall and spring. If you are not invited to join the orchestra in the fall, you are encouraged to audition again in the spring as instrumentation needs may change.

Spring 2008 Rehearsal Schedule

Tuesday evenings: January 29; February 5, 12, 26; March 11, 25; April 8, 15, 22, 29; May 6, 13.
Rehearsals will not be held on February 19, March 4 or March 18.
6:00-8:00 p.m.
UW-Eau Claire Haas Fine Arts – Room 139

Attendance at all rehearsals is required. There are 5-6 rehearsals before each concert, so your attendance is critical to the success of the concert. If you miss more than one rehearsal date before a concert, participation in the concert is at the director’s discretion.
