Taking Charge of Change

  • Are you responsible for implementing change in your work unit?
  • Can you recognize how change in our personal lives and workplaces affects our thoughts, feelings, and actions at work?
  • Do you know how to overcome the natural resistance to change, and reduce the potential trauma change can produce?

Taking Charge of Change examines why people (and firms) naturally resist change. We discuss how to overcome this natural resistance. Taking Charge of Change explores why and how our organizations must change to remain competitive. Our marketplace demands higher quality, better service, more competitive rates, and greater efficiency. It demands change. And each change impacts people. How well we manage the change process will dictate whether or not the change results in more efficient operations.

  • Effectively taking charge of change requires is more than restructuring the organization chart, developing a new process, or deciding where and when to move the furniture
  • Managing change well requires focusing on how change impacts people -employees, customers, suppliers

In this seminar you will:

  • Explore why and how change is required to remain competitive
  • Assess your reaction to, readiness for, and support of change
  • Learn procedures which facilitate the change process
  • Discuss roles of staff, managers and executives in implementing change
  • Examine the tug-of-war between the safety of the status quo versus the fear and uncertainty of impending change
  • Start an action plan for facilitating change in your work group

Who should attend:

If you are responsible for planning or implementing change, you will benefit by participating in this seminar. Managers, supervisors, administrators and business owners will find the concepts and skills apply regardless of your work setting, because change affects us all. Members of self-directed work teams who implement change in their unit will profit by attending as a work group.
