The Central European History Travel Seminar offers an adventure of discovery! As we travel from Berlin to Potsdam, Dresden, Prague, Vienna, Bratislava, Budapest, Krakow, Auschwitz, Czestachowa, Warsaw, Druskininkai and Riga, you will see and touch places that have shaped history and our lives for much of the past century.
You will understand the triumphs of men and women--Maria Theresa, Frederic the Great, King Sobieski, Jan Hus, Joseph Pilsudski, Thomas Masaryk and Maria Waleska --as well as the suffering of the victims of wars and totalitarianism. Auschwitz/Birkenau will make real the horrors of Nazism. You will experience the remnants of the Berlin Wall, Wenceslas Square in "Golden" Prague, the Terror Museum in Budapest, the places where Polish students and workers resisted Soviet power, and where Latvians suffered their 50-year occupation will be the tangible evidence of the Cold War.
You will also explore the cultures of Central Europe. The music of Mozart, Smetana, Liszt, Chopin will resonate for us in the concert halls and opera houses. The works of the old masters of art in Dresden and Vienna will be visited and you will learn new names in the world of art and architecture such as, Mucha, Mateiko, Munkacsy, and Hundertwasser.You will sense the soul of the people of Central Europe at the ancient Jewish cemetery in the ghetto of Prague, the great churches in Vienna, Bratislava, Budapest, Krakow, Riga and the pilgrimage site of the Black Madonna at Czestachowa. And, you will enjoy the cuisine of the German, Czech, Austrian, Hungarian and other lands of Central Europe.
While on your tour, you will stay in youth hostels, inexpensive hotels, and at least one dungeon! Lodging is double room occupancy. Single accommodations are available at an additional fee. Two meals per day are included in the fee along with entrance fees/tickets for all group activities. Transportation within and between cities by coach bus is included your tour fee.
You will be responsible for your passport, one meal per day, personal expenses and airfare to and from Europe.

Fee:The cost for this travel seminar is $3350.00 and includes lodging (double room occupancy); two meals/day; entrance fees, transportation in Europe, tour guides, and health insurance. The flight is not included. For an additional $350, single room occupancy can be requested. Registration Deadline:April 1, 2008. A $600.00 non-refundable deposit is required when you register. Fee is due in full by July 1, 2008. Cancellation Policy: If you cancel prior to July 1, 2008, $600.00 will be retained. If you cancel after July 1, 2008, there will be no refund. |
