Andrew Parks is horn instructor at UW-Eau Claire and UW-River Falls, and can be heard performing with the Wisconsin Woodwind Quintet, Eau Claire Chamber Orchestra and the brass quintet. Mr. Parks received his Bachelors Degree from St. Olaf College and his MM in horn performance from UW-Madison. Past professional experience includes four years with both the Madison Brass and Rockford, Ill. Symphony. He lives in River Falls with his wife and two children.

Ali Payne
(Health Cost Management Consultant, Stanton Group)
Ali has a sincere interest in meeting her clients’ health and wellness needs. She places a strong value on building best in class programs for all sizes of businesses. Ali believes health promotion and wellness strategy is a leading driver behind compressing health care costs for clients. This position gives her an opportunity to help companies open the door to health promotion and wellness promotion for employees who need it most.

Prior to joining Stanton Group, Ali Edgell spent four years with Motorola, Inc. As their Senior Wellness Coordinator, she had first-hand experience in the important role of wellness and fitness in the worksite. Now as a Health Cost Management Consultant she is helping clients look at health and wellness in a whole new way. Ali helps her clients improve their employee retention and productivity through successful health and wellness strategies and implementation. Additionally, she focuses on innovative methods to help lower company health care costs and improve overall morale.

Ali is a graduate of the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. She has a strong passion for health and wellness both professionally and personally.

Thomas Peacock, Ed.D. is an enrolled member of Fond du Lac Band (mother's side, father's side from Red Cliff) of Lake Superior Ojibwe. Currently, he is an associate professor of education at University of Minnesota-Duluth; where he teaches graduate master's and doctoral programs in education. Dr. Peacock has an M.Ed. and Ed. Doctorate from Harvard University. Dr. Peacock is an author/co-author of several books, including A Forever Story: The People and Community of the Fond du Lac Reservation; Ojibwe Waasa Inaabida; Collected Wisdom: American Indian Education; The Good Path; and The Seventh Generation: Native Youth Speak About Following the Good Path. Ojibwe Waasa Inaabida and The Good Path both won Minnesota Book Awards. The Seventh Generation was 2003 Multicultural Children's Book Award winner by the National Assn. of Multicultural Education. Dr. Peacock books will be available for purchase at the conference.

Carol Picard, PhD, RN, CS, President, The Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International; Graduate Program Director, Doctoral Program Director and Professor, University of Massachusetts, Amherst School of Nursing.

Dr. Carol Picard brings the arts to the arena of healing for patients and students. She is a psychiatric clinical nurse specialist and professor with 33 years experience in nursing. She has choreographed and performed dances on the subject of healing and led workshops on movement and wholeness. She presents frequently on restorative practices for nurses, other health professionals, patients and families. In her keynote presentation, she will help you develop strategies for nurturing passion and compassion in your daily life.

Dr. Picard’s program of research focuses on the experience of illness and the meaning of health for patients and their families, and the use of art and creative movement as modes of expression. She recently co-authored the book “Giving Voice to What We Know: Margaret Newman’s Theory of Health as Expanding Consciousness in Nursing Practice, Education and Research” She believes that excellent nursing is “an evidencebased, theory-driven, reflective practice.”

George Potaracke is the founding Executive Director of the Wisconsin Board on Aging and Long Term Care, a state agency established in 1981. They provide ombudsmen who advocate for long term care residents of nursing homes and group homes, provide the Medigap Medicare Beneficiary Help Line and provide advice to the Governor and legislature on long term care policy. He is immediate past chair for the Community Options Program/Long-Term Support Statewide Advisory Committee. In the past, he was director of the area agency on aging serving Western Wisconsin and is a native of La Crosse.

Eugene Power is Director of Instrumental Music
for the Osseo-Fairchild School District and serves as the Assistant Conductor for the Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Power brings an enormous amount of energy and expertise to the organization. In addition to his current professional duties, he has taught in the Eau Claire and Fall Creek school districts and maintains an active performance schedule, having made appearances as a guest clinician for concert bands and jazz ensembles i the region. He is a graduate of UW-Eau Claire where he was the winner of the first annual UW-Eau Claire Bands Conducting Competition and served as music director for Clearwater Student Chamber Ensemble, a chamber orchestra that he formed. Mr. Power has studied conducting with Nobuyoshi Yasuda of UW-Eau Claire and Michael Tilson Thomas, Music Director of the San Francisco Symphony.

Steve Prescott received both Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Clarinet Performance from the University of Arizona. Mr. Prescott has performed throughout the Midwest and at Indiana State University where he has presented annual faculty recitals. He is a member of the Indiana State University Faculty Winds which has produced 3 compact disc recordings. Mr. Prescott is also a member of Philharmonia à Vent, producing 2 compact disc recordings. Mr. Prescott is Principal Clarinetist of the newly formed Terre Haute Chamber Winds and conducts the After Hours Clarinet Choir. He teaches Clarinet at the University of Wisconsin, Indianhead Arts and Education Center in Shell Lake, Wisconsin. Mr. Prescott has been Bass Clarinetist for the Rochester Symphony Orchestra in Rochester, MN, Principal Clarinetist for the Danville Symphony Orchestra in Danville, IL and is currently Utility Clarinetist for the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra in Terre Haute, IN. Mr. Prescott has given instruction at Sam Sharpe Teachers College in Jamaica, West Indies, and is an active clinician and soloist. Mr. Prescott has taught at Indiana State University and Vincennes University, is performing a DMA in clarinet Performance at the University of Illinois, and is a Yamaha Performing Artist. Steven Prescott performs on the YCL72 and YCL72A Clarinet.
