John E. Kalachnik, Director of Integrated Services for the Iowa Department of Human Services, has a wealth of experience in the mental health field. In 1981 he was the coordinator of The National Institute of Mental Health research project to develop a TD assessment scale. He developed and implemented a psychopharmocologic medication monitoring and tardive dyskinesia assessment training program for the state of Minnesota. He has published over 35 journal articles and book chapters on tardive dyskinesia and psychopharmacologic medication monitoring.
Douglas Kennedy has a wealth of experience in human resources management. From 1969 to 2002, Doug worked for Franchise Associates, Inc., a leading franchisee of Arby's and Sbarro Restaurants. At FAI Doug held a variety of positions, including Director of Training, Director of Personnel and Vice-President of Administration. He is currently a senior lecturer in the department of Hospitality and Tourism at UW-Stout. Doug received his law degree from William Mitchell College of Law.
Dr. Julie Keown-Bomar is a cultural anthropologist, educator, author, and researcher. As a Family Living Educator for UW-Extension, she develops grass roots educational programs in an effort to improve the quality of life for families in Eau Claire County. She has taught a variety of university courses including Social Problems, Race/Class/Gender, Anthropology, and Women’s Studies. Her book Kinship Networks Among Hmong-American Refugees was published in 2004.
Michael Kiefer is a tactical leadership trainer, specializing in action-oriented supervision, project management and accelerated learning seminars. He trains managers in both the public and private sector in over a hundred workshops annually nationwide. His clients include 3M, AT&T, IBM, Dun and Bradstreet, Fidelity Investments, Hazelton Foundation, Honeywell, Microsoft, Pillsbury, the US Navy, and many other large and small firms.
Michael earned an MS degree and completed PhD coursework in genetic engineering at Texas A&M. He is the president of a private company. Prior to becoming a full-time management trainer and best-selling business author, Michael had a successful management career. He worked for seven years as head of a high-output multimillion dollar DNA fingerprinting lab and for ten years as the principal investigator for the POWERMIND™ System Project.

Tom Kidd, B.S., M.E.P.D., is a professional motivational and educational speaker. Mr. Kidd has over 25 years of teaching experience as a middle school teacher in the Eau Claire Area School District and as an adjunct faculty professor at the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire, UW-La Crosse and Viterbo colleges. Tom has his own consulting, training and speaking business; and is a training specialist for Hazelden, a nationally-renowned drug and alcohol rehabilitation center.
Claire Kilian, Ph.D. bridges the gap between management theory and management practice by providing relevant, practical management information, tools, and techniques to organizations. She specializes in systems thinking, team learning, effective recognition programs, and work/life initiatives.
Claire developed the Coach guide and workshop for The Team Learning Lab, a video-supported organizational learning program designed as a practice field for teams; the video features Peter Senge, author of the best-selling book The Fifth Discipline.
Claire earned a doctorate in Management & Human Resources from Ohio State University. She also holds degrees in Psychology and Anthropology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has taught university courses in management and human resources for over fifteen years and has published in the Labor Law Journal, Research in Personnel and Human Resources Management, and Training & Development Magazine. She is currently on the faculty of the College of Business & Economics at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
Pauline Klaffenboeck is Vice President of Global Trade Services at the M&I Marshall & Ilsley Bank, Milwaukee. She has been ith M&I’s International Department for 30 years. In her current capacity as Vice President for Trade Services, she assists companies with their international needs, specializing in foreign political and economic risks. She has traveled to Europe, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific regions as well as Mexico and Canada on behalf of the bank.
Pauline was born in Madison, Wisconsin where she attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She graduated from the University of Geneva, Switzerland, majoring in French, German and Spanish. Prior to joining M&I Bank she spent four years in a bank in Salzburg, Austria as a foreign exchange trader.
In 1993 she served as chairperson of the National Association of Credit Managers, International Credit Executive Group. She is past President of the Madison International Trade Association and has served on the International Trade Advisory Committee of the Milwaukee Area Technical College. Pauline currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Wisconsin District Export Council. She is Chairperson of the Board of the International Institute of Wisconsin, a committee member of Governor Doyle’s Wisconsin International Trade Council and a member of the Bankers Association for Foreign Trade.
Kevin Koehn is president of American Business and Financial, Inc., an Eau Claire business consulting firm which directs several Peer Advisory Boards and provides business brokerage services and business planning services in the area. In addition to his extensive work in business consulting, Kevin owns several local businesses and serves on boards of directors for two non-profit organizations. Kevin is an experienced seminar instructor, having taught many seminars for colleges and universities around the state of Wisconsin. Kevin received his BS degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and his MBA from Mankato State University. He also completed his Certified Financial Planner (CFP) course work at Mankato State University.
Mr. John Konkel, International Consultant, for the Wisconsin Department of Commerce spent twenty years in international business as a product manager, marketing manager, and vice president of marketing and sales, working in various industries including medical/plastics, HVAC, fire/safety and high technology products. For six years he was employed at a U.S./Japanese joint venture company. Mr. Konkel has traveled extensively in Latin America, Asia, and Europe.
David Koppenhaver is currently a Fulbright Scholar at the Schonell Special Education Research Centre at the University of Queensland in Australia. He is the 1998 winner of the Don Johnston/ISAAC Distinguished Lecturer Award. He also holds the Pehrson Distinguished Chair in Education at Gustavus Adolphus College where he teaches courses on literacy, inclusion, and classroom technology. His research and teaching for the past 20 years have focused on literacy in persons with disabilities. He and Karen Erickson have co-taught the annual summer seminar on literacy and augmentative communication for the past 10 years.
Sara S. Knoeck, BSMT, (ASCP), Laboratory Manager/Compliance Officer at the Columbus Community Hospital, is responsible for the technical, budgetary, personnel and operational aspects of the hospital laboratory. She was a clinical instructor in the School of Medical Technology at Wausau Hospital for 15 years.
Christopher Krueger, well known as a performer on both modern and historical instruments, has been a soloist and ensemble member with virtually every major early music organization in the United States. He is the principal flutist with the Boston Early Music Festival Orchestra, Mostly Mozart on Original Instruments, the Handel & Haydn Society, the Smithsonian Chamber Orchestra, the Classical Band, the New Hampshire Symphony, and Banchetto Musicale. He is also a member of the Bach Ensemble and the Smithsonian Chamber Players and a founding member of the Naumburg Award-winning Emmanuel Wind Quintet.
Linda Kucan is an Assistant Professor in the Language, Reading , and Exceptionalities Department of Appalachian State University. Her research interests include teacher development, comprehension, and classroom discourse.
