Helen Dale, a professor of English at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, looks forward to working with area English/language arts instructors. She teaches English methods courses for pre-service teachers -courses about teaching writing, teaching literature, and teaching language concepts, works in the schools with student and cooperating teachers, and teaches graduate courses for English/language arts teachers. She also teaches courses in composition, critical thinking, and cultural diversity. Helen taught high school English for eleven years and has presented many workshops for English/language arts teachers on topics such as writing across the curriculum, the writing process, grammar, co-authoring, enhancing collaborative classroom activities, setting up e-mail partnerships between schools and university students, and aligning the English curriculum with state standards. She is active with the National Council of Teachers of English and has published a book, Co-Authoring in the Classroom: Creating an Environment for Effective Collaboration with NCTE. Helen has also published journal articles about collaborative writing, supervising student teachers, qualitative research, and high school/university partnerships.

Dr. Ronda Davis, MD, PhD is a child and adolescent psychiatrist in the outpatient setting at Marshfield Clinic, Eau Claire Center , Department of Behavioral Health. She is trained in Adult Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and General Pediatrics. Dr.Davis received the Utah Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics Child Advocacy Award in 2000 to acknowledge her advocacy efforts during her postgraduate training. Dr.Davis is a Wisconsin native who trained in Seattle , WA (Ph.D. in Medical Chemistry), Loma Linda , CA (Medical Degree) and Salt Lake City , UT (Postgraduate training). She returned to her home state with the goal of improving care for children with mental health and special health care needs in Northern Wisconsin .

Ada Deer, director of the American Indian Studies program
at UW-Madison, earned degrees in social work at the University of Wisconsin and Columbia University. She is a fellow at the Harvard Institute of Politics, John F. Kennedy School of Government– Cambridge, and was the first member of her tribe to receive a master’s degree.

She became the first woman chair of the Menominee Nation,
first woman to head the federal Bureau of Indian Affairs, first
American Indian woman to run for Congress and Wisconsin’s
secretary of state, and the first woman appointed an assistant secretary for Indian affairs in the U.S. Department of Interior.

Ada’s vision is, “To stop human suffering and the loss of human potential. To strengthen our people, families and children, and to act in the face of glaring human needs”.

Kathleen M. Deery, Ph.D., C.R.C. is an Assistant Professor and Online Graduate Program Director for the Vocational Rehabilitation Program at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Her previous work experience includes teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in gerontology at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, conducting research at a federally funded Research and Training Center on disability, providing neuropsychological assessment services to older adults, and serving as a vocational rehabilitation counselor. She completed her master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling at Gallaudet University, the world's only liberal arts college for the deaf, and her doctorate in Rehabilitation Psychology from the University of Wisconsin - Madison where her work focused on the rehabilitation needs of older adults. She is presently engaged in research that examines the knowledge of HIV/AIDS risk factors among older adults. Kathleen was in Washington DC in the fall of 2003 where she spoke on aging and disability specifically related to sensory impairments. The United States House Appropriations committee has asked her to return in Spring 2004 to consult with members of the House.

Ken De Meuse is associate vice president of research at Lominger International: A Korn/Ferry Company.; Prior to working for Lominger International,he was on the faculties at the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire, Iowa State University, and the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Dr. De Meuse has published articles on employee attitudes and organizational behavior in several leading professional journals.; His most recent book, 50 More Things You Need to Know: The Science Behind Best People Practices for Managers & HR Professionals, was published in 2007. He has appeared on ABC News, CNN, AP Radio, and National Public Radio and has been featured in national publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, Fortune, U.S. News & World Report, The New York Times, and USA Today for his expertise on the impact organizational change has on the workforce

Wil Denson is a recently retired Professor of Theatre and a long-time resident of the Chippewa Valley. He holds a PhD in Theatre from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has taught at the university level for over 33 years. He was awarded an Excellence In Service Award" from UWEC in 1989, directed the University theatre program for five years, and was Director of UW-EC Summer Theatre for 25 seasons. In 1992 the Eau Claire Regional Arts Council granted Denson an Artistic Achievement Tributary Award for his work in theatre. Denson's writing honors include a DALE WASSERMAN (author of Man of LaMancha) LAYWRITING AWARD, a WISCONSIN ARTS BOARD FELLOWSHIP IN LITERATURE, a number of national writing honors, and several COUNCIL FOR WISCONSIN WRITERS awards. He has written over 20 plays, several television and radio scripts, and films. Eight of his plays have been published and 19 have been produced throughout the U.S. as well as in most English-speaking countries. His film script Brantner recently reached the semi-finals of the Nicholl Fellowship
Competition (the Academy of Motion Pictures sponsored event) as well as the Storybay Film Script Competition finals.

Amber Dernbach teaches Theatre, Improvisation, and ESL at Memorial High School in Eau Claire. She is an actor, director, and playwright. Her series of living history monologues with Hmong actors won an Honorable Mention award at the 2002 UW-Eau Claire Research Day. Amber holds an M.A. With Distinction from UW-New Mexico and a B.A. in Theatre Arts from UW-Eau Claire.

Scott Dickmeyer dedicates himself to training people to be more effective communicators in all aspects of their lives. Scott is recognized nationally for his success in training public speakers and his ability to integrate diverse individuals into effective work teams.

Scott is a consultant and trainer to industry in interpersonal, group, and organizational communication. He is currently investigating how certain communication practices increase employee satisfaction, production and loyalty at one of the 100 best companies to work for in America.

Scott has also shared his passion for effective communication as an award-winning teacher and researcher at several colleges and universities. Scott earned his Ph.D. in Organizational Communication at the University of Nebraska. He is currently Associate Professor of Communication Studies, UW-La Crosse.

Kim Didier currently serves as Executive Director for the Newton, Iowa Development Corporation. Kim is a founding member of the Newton Transformation Council, which is a collaborative effort of many partners to bring resources to the city of Newton after the Maytag/Whirlpool Corporation left their community. Kim has also been instrumental in revitalizing Newton, Iowa by:

  • Developing 11th Avenue in Newton which made it possible to access 240 additional acres for city development
  • Recommending the creation of Exit 164 TIF district which led to the development of several new restaurants and businesses revitalizing the main entrance to the City of Newton
  • Co-presenting to Federal officials regarding Newton’s transformational efforts resulting in a model planning grant from the U.S. Department of Labor for $250,000.

Pat Dillon joined the Wisconsin Entrepreneurs' Network on June 1, 2005, as the director of the Northwest Region/University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Dillon brings more than 15 years of public-private sector knowledge and experience to the WEN. Previously, Dillon was the executive director of Minnesota Project Innovation, Inc. where she consulted with hundreds of companies in the SBIR and STTR Programs, resulting in more than 30 seed, early stage and emerging high technology companies to win more than $20 million in research awards.

Dillon is highly recognized nationally and locally for her knowledge and expertise in the SBIR and STTR Programs. In 1999, she was awarded the prestigious Small Business Administration Tibbetts Award for her excellence in the SBIR/STTR Programs, and in 2001, she was recognized by City Business (Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal) as one of the 25 Most Innovative Women in Minneapolis.

Dillon has been a SBIR reviewer for the National Science Foundation and the United States Department of Agriculture, and was the Principal Investigator of an Office of Naval Research contract for the first ever SWIFT Tour (5-State SBIR Road Tour). Dillon is a member of the National Contract Management Association; the Society of Research Administrators; the Association for the Advancement of Science; the National Defense Industrial Association; Association of the United States Army, the Navy League, and the Naval Reserve Association.

Dillon graduated from Winona State University with a MBA and BS in Business Administration. Dillon is currently a Commander in the United States Navy Reserve with more than 28 years of service.

Carol Dittmar is a shareholder in the Eau Claire law firm of Garvey, Anderson, Johnson, Geraci & Mirr, S.C. She is a 1986 cum laude graduate of Marquette University Law School. Her practice is concentrated in the areas of workers' compensation, employment law and civil litigation, including tort and insurance defense as well as personal injury. Prior to attending law school, Carol spent five years as a branch manager for a savings and loan.

Kevin Doll, M.A. is a trained marriage and family therapist currently completing his Ph.D. in family studies. He has extensive experience with family abuse. He teaches courses in interpersonal relations, family diversity and family violence and has taught both in the University and in neighborhood community learning settings.

Joe Duffy, Principal and Chairman of Duffy & Partners Minneapolis, is one of the most respected and sought after creative directors and leaders on branding and design in the world. Joe’s work includes brand and corporate identity development for leading global companies, ranging from BMW to Coca-Cola to Sony to McDonald’s to Starbucks. His work is regularly featured in leading marketing and design publications and exhibited around the world. He founded Duffy & Partners in 2004 to be a new kind of branding and creative company partnering with clients and other agencies in all communication disciplines. In 2004, he received the Legacy Medal from the AIGA for a lifetime of achievement in the field of visual communication. His first book, Brand Apart, was released in July 2005. In spring 2006 Joe Duffy was featured in Fast Company as one of the “fast 50” most influential people in the future of business.
