One of the most difficult parts of your job may be dealing with possible victims of child abuse. The good news is that we keep learning better ways to detect abuse and protect children from re-exposure.
This one-day conference will present new and exciting perspectives in the field of child advocacy and child abuse.

Goals of this conference are:
Victor Vieth – Mr. Vieth was appointed to serve as the first director of the National Child Protection Training Center at Winona State University. He has developed a protocol for addressing child abuse in rural communities which has been nationally recognized for its success. He has published numerous articles on child abuse issues. Topics: Until the Third Generation: A Call to End Child Abuse within 120 Years: Investigation and prosecution of Child Abuse and Neglect.
Rich Kaplan, MD – Dr. Kaplan is the Medical director of the Center for Safe and Healthy Children – U of M Children’s Hospital and Associate Medical Director for Midwest Children’s Resource Center at Children’s Hospitals and Clinics, both regional centers for the evaluation of alleged child abuse. As a pediatrician with a background in social work, Dr. Kaplan has been working with abused children for over 30 years. Topics: A medical and legal update on the care of possible victims of child sexual abuse; The recognition of abusive injuries – cutaneous findings.
Norma Ginther, MSW – Ms. Ginther has more than 20 years of experience in the field of child welfare. Author and lecturer, she currently is on the staff of the Institute for Human Services in Columbus, OH. Topics: Social Services Role on Multidisciplinary Teams. Cultural Intelligence.

Transfer/Cancellation Policy: To receive a full refund, you must cancel no later than five (5) business days prior to the start of the program. Cancellations after this time will receive a refund less a $35 administrative fee. Please note, if you no-show or cancel the day of the program, you are responsible for the full program feel. Substitutes are welcome and may register in your absence. Just call the Continuing Education office (715-836-3636/toll-free 866-893-2423) and we’ll take care of everything.
This one-day program includes six (6) hours of instruction for which contact hours/CEUs will be awarded.
For persons in the Bar Association 6.5-CLE; 6.5-GALm; or 6.5-GALf hours will be awarded.
