New Offering!
Are you an adult who is interested in writing and publishing fiction for the young adult (YA) audience? While definitions vary, the YA audience is typically made up of individuals 12-18 years of age. In this workshop, you’ll discuss craft issues relevant to YA fiction, study master writers in the genre and take a close look at trends in publishing for this unique group. Because a familiarity with quality YA fiction is critical to writing successfully for teens, all participants should read the following prior to the workshop: The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian (Sherman Alexie) and The Rules of Survival (Nancy Werlin). Both texts are available in paper-back. Don’t miss this opportunity to gain insight into the specialized techniques of writing for and about teens from an award-winning author of young adult fiction, as well as an insider's perspective on working with YA agents, editors, and publishers.
