Partner(s): Eau Claire Area School District, Chippewa Falls Unified School District, Charter Bank
In partnership with the Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls School Districts, Continuing Education provides summer enrichment programming for children in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Each summer, more than 1,000 children in the Chippewa Valley take advantage of classes offered in every subject area, including science, mathematics, visual and performing arts, foreign languages and literature. The school districts partner in the program by providing classroom space, administrative supports and scholarships for students residing in their districts. Charter Bank also grants scholarships to students who have college savings accounts with the bank. To learn more about our partners, visit the above Web sites.
Partners: University of Wisconsin-Extension, Boys and Girls Club of the Greater Chippewa Valley, Wisconsin Educational Opportunities Program, UW-Eau Claire Upward Bound, UW-Eau Claire Multicultural Affairs
Through a grant from the University of Wisconsin-Extension, Continuing Education and its partners will offer a six-week ACT test preparation program to high school students in the Eau Claire area. The first class of students will begin instruction in February 2007. Our community partners will select participants from their organizations and support their involvement in the program. The pilot program will target low-income and minority students with plans to open the program to the general public in future years. In addition to the test preparation course, students and their parents will be invited to campus for informational sessions regarding admissions and financial aid.
Partner: CESA 10
The Youth Options program enables high school juniors and seniors to earn college credits. Sponsored by their school district, the distance education component that Continuing Education provides allows students to take these courses via telecommunications technology while remaining in their home high school. CESA 10 provides links to distance education networks and helps connect Continuing Education to thirty school districts in the region.
