In April 2006, nearly 100 professional Sanitarians gathered in Eau Claire to network and learn more about environmental health tools for emerging crises and diseases. Offered in collaboration with the Wisconsin Environmental Health Association (WEHA), the Annual Spring Educational Conference defined the role of environmental health professionals in emergencies and disasters, discussed new guidelines, and reviewed rules and regulations. Designed to meet the needs of Security Health Plan's case managers, this one-day program provided valuable training to assist these professionals in obtaining increased compliance on health issues with their clients.

Through this conference, more than 200 public health nurses benefited from sharing innovative solutions to successfully address a number of current public health problems in August 2006. Hosted by the Western Wisconsin Public Health Consortium and UW-Eau Claire College of Nursing and Health Sciences, the program focused on social justice and advocacy.
