Programs
Educational programs include peer outreach education, education and training for faculty and staff, and outreach to parents and alumni. Research employs the student-faculty collaborative research model which has been highly successful at UW - Eau Claire as a University of Wisconsin Center of Excellence.
In addition, CASE supports environmental change strategies including collaboration with law enforcement, city and county agencies, community leaders, neighborhood associations, the hospitality industry, media and local government. CASE supports the Bridge Campus-Community Coalition on Alcohol Issues in Eau Claire and represents UW - Eau Claire on the Consortium for Substance Abuse Prevention In Eau Claire County.
Lastly, CASE conducts surveys of student behavior such as the CORE Survey and UW System Survey, and disseminates results to aid in program planning.
The CASE Peer Educator team is involved in all aspects of CASE activities. They provide moderation skills training, maintain campus bulletin boards, coordinate activities and programs, and research and maintain information materials. They also facilitate the CHOICES Program.
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire also conducts the CORE survey and UW System Administration survey. Results can be obtained by contacting CASE at (715) 836-5110. We hope to have an archive of results available on the CASE web site in the near future.
CASE strives to bring cutting-edge programs to campus for both students and staff. Recent examples include:
Tom Workman, PhD, "Building Coalitions to Address High Risk Drinking," two days of programs for campus and community partners, February 7, 8, 2006. See http://www.nudirections.org for more information about the presenter and the campus-community coalition at University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Brett Sokolow, JD, "Drunk Sex or Date Rape?" April 4, 2006, Schofield Auditorium. See http://www.ncherm.org for more information about the presenter.
George Parks, PhD, BASICs training, August 23-25, 2006. See the overview for additional information.
Since 2006, CASE has funded 17 research projects that address issues of alcohol use and abuse on the UW-Eau Claire campus.
In addition, research may require appropriate documentation for human subjects research which is submitted to and reviewed by the Institutional Review Board (IRB).
