Have you ever woken after a night of drinking and had a friend tell you that you went to bed with a stranger? Or maybe someone just hit on at the bar and it made you uncomfortable. What if you had sex with one of your good friends but never said yes?
Each one of these situations is an example of sexual assault. Sexual assault can range anywhere from words, to kissing, to rape. Drinking significantly increases the risk of sexually assault, as your actions can be easily misinterpreted or misjudged by yourself and others.
Engaging in such activities while passed out and/or unable to give consent constitutes sexual assault. No one asks to be assaulted, and it's nothing you owe to someone. It's not about sex. If you have been assaulted, get help ASAP. Be wary of others' intentions and keep your eye on your drink. If you suspect your drink or your friend's drink was drugged, stick together. Get home safely.
