The Constitution of the University Faculty (Article Four, Section E) specifically relegates to the College faculty the power "of approving courses to be offered within the College, and of recommending to the Senate the creation or abolishment of departments, programs, majors, or minors within the College, and modifications in degree requirements," (3.12).

The Constitution of the University Faculty (Article Four, Section F) provides that "each College faculty shall set up such standing and ad hoc committees as are necessary for the business of the College," (3.12).

1. The Faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences shall establish a standing Curriculum Committee as follows:
   1. The committee shall be named the Curriculum Committee of the College of Arts and Sciences.
   2. The membership of this committee shall consist of eight faculty members elected at large for four-year terms; the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, ex-officio; the Assistant/Associate Dean for Curriculum of the College of Arts and Sciences, ex-officio; the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, ex-officio and non-voting; and the Registrar, ex-officio and non-voting; and two student members selected by Student Government with the provisions that the student representatives must be juniors or above, in good academic standing, and enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences. No member may vote by proxy.
   3. Two members shall be elected by the College each year in April for four-year terms.
   4. At its first meeting each year, the committee shall elect a chair and a secretary for the year.
   5. The Curriculum Committee of the College of Arts and Sciences shall:
      1. Consider continuously all matters relating to the undergraduate and graduate curriculum of the College of Arts and Sciences, including:
         1. New courses
         2. Majors and minors
         3. Requirements for degrees, diplomas, and pre-professional programs
         4. Credit value for courses
         5. Catalogue revisions of curricular and course offerings
         6. Organized programs offered for credit under the auspices of the College
      2. Act on curricular proposals and changes within the College which do not affect graduation requirements, and report these actions within one week to the faculty of the College and to the Senate Academic Policies Committee; action by the committee on these matters is to be considered final unless overruled by the faculty of the College.
      3. Make recommendations to the faculty of the College on curricular matters which do affect graduation requirements.
2. The faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences shall establish a standing Nominating Committee as follows:
   1. For the purpose of nominating members for the Curriculum Committee and for any other standing or ad hoc committee that the College may need, a nominating committee of five shall be elected. Members shall serve staggered two-year terms with approximately half being elected each April for the next academic year.
   2. The Nominating Committee shall present at least one more nominee than there are elected positions to be filled for any College committee or Arts and Sciences representation on a University committee.   After additional nominations from the floor have been provided for, election shall be by mail ballot.
   3. When elected committee members are unable to serve because of sabbaticals, leaves of absence, study abroad assignments, or similar absences, the following replacement policy will be followed:   Vacancies of one year or more will be filled by nomination and election procedures outlined above.   Replacements for vacancies of less than one year will be appointed by the Dean in consultation with the appropriate governing bodies.
3. A quorum shall consist of those eligible voting members of the College in attendance at an announced meeting of the College of Arts and Sciences for which an agenda has been circulated at least 48 hours in advance.
