Mathematics
Mathematics is the study of quantitative relationships expressed in numbers and symbols. It focuses on mathematical concepts and theories and involves their formulation, testing interpretation, and practical application. A minimal understanding and use of mathematics is considered basic to daily life and is applied in business, engineering, the physical and social sciences, computer science and fine arts. The University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire offers a mathematics major with a liberal arts emphasis, an applied emphasis, a statistics emphasis or an actuarial emphasis as well as a mathematics teaching major.
